Volunteering at HHTLC is both fun and rewarding. Being a part of the joy and success, which our riders experience through their therapeutic riding sessions can make you feel very good about yourself. Our volunteers have told us that helping our riders makes them feel that they receive more than they give.
To become an HHTLC volunteer, you must be at least 14 years old, be in reasonably good health, and be able to walk for half an hour at a time. (Sometimes short periods of running are also required.) If you have experience with horses, you can train to become a horse leader, and be responsible for leading a horse during lessons. If you do not have horse experience, we will train you as a side walker. Side walkers assist riders in grooming and saddling their horses, help to support the riders while they are mounted on their horse, and assist the riders with lesson activities.
If you would like to volunteer, please download and complete the
Volunteer Application, Liability Release and the Authorization for Emergency Medical Treatment. These are NOT on-line submission forms, because we must have original signatures. After you have printed out the forms and completed them, please mail the forms (via U.S. Postal Service) to: Horses & Horizons Therapeutic Learning Center, Inc., 375 Zions Stone Church Rd., New Ringgold, PA 17960. We will contact you concerning your interest in volunteering.
